Job description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team, located in either Saskatoon or La Ronge. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the ideal candidate will provide advanced financial analysis, support strategic decision-making, and ensure the integrity of financial reporting across Kitsaki’s group of companies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple entities within the Kitsaki portfolio, including Kitsaki Management, Kitsaki Development, and Kitsaki Lands.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial records in accordance with ASPE.
  • Review of monthly bank statements and transactions, reconciliation of multiple bank and investment accounts to the general ledger.
  • Complete monthly account reconciliations, including accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Administer bi-weekly payroll, government remittances, ROEs, T4s, and employee benefits.
  • Prepare internal and external reports for stakeholders, including executive management, auditors, and board members.
  • Coordinate the year-end audit process and liaise with external auditors.
  • Lead the compliance with federal and provincial reporting requirements, including the filing of GST and PST and returns.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Assist in the evaluation of financial systems and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation or progress towards an accounting designation considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary graduate certificate, bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field considered an asset.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a complex, multi-entity organization.
  • Current valid Saskatchewan driver’s license with the ability to work from the La Ronge or Saskatoon office and drive periodically for meetings and coverage, as needed (meals & accommodation allowance provided).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, QuickBooks, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience working with Indigenous organizations or in Indigenous economic development is a strong asset.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
