We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to manage and oversee all aspects of financial operations, working towards the role of a finance manager. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate financial management, compliance with regulatory standards, and continuous process improvement. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in accounting principles, a proactive mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Prepare and maintain accurate financial records in compliance with accounting standards (e.g., ASPE, US GAAP, IFRS). Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, including preparing financial statements, reconciliations, and financial disclosures. Oversee general ledger accounts, analyze data trends, and perform detailed variance analyses. Develop short-term and long-term financial forecasts, including revenue, expenses, cash flow, and profitability. Analyze historical financial data to identify trends and provide actionable insights for future planning. Monitor forecast accuracy, identify variances, and adjust models to improve reliability over time. Manage fixed assets, including tracking acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation schedules.
- Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as tax authorities, auditors, banks, vendors, and sales channel representatives, to ensure accurate reporting and compliance. Coordinate and manage external and internal audit processes, including preparing documentation and providing necessary explanations. Liaise with senior management, providing financial insights to guide business decisions and strategies. Ensure accurate and timely communication with regulatory bodies regarding compliance and financial reporting requirements.
- Operations Support: Manage and ensure daily accounting tasks are completed accurately and on time. Process payroll and ensure proper calculations for taxes, benefits, and deductions. Monitor cash flow to maintain operational efficiency, ensuring timely payments and collections. Reconcile inventory records with supply chain operations, addressing discrepancies and ensuring accurate valuation. Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, maintaining vendor and customer relationships.
- Tax and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax regulations, including preparation and filing of income, payroll, and sales taxes. Assist with tax planning and optimization strategies to minimize tax liabilities. Maintain proper documentation and records for tax audits and inquiries.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, reducing inefficiencies and ensuring best practices. Leverage accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) to enhance automation, streamline workflows, and improve reporting accuracy. Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements, ensuring timely adjustments to internal policies. Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
