Modern Niagara in Ottawa is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Corporate Finance team. You will support financial reporting, technical accounting, and tax compliance for our non-construction entities across the group, partnering with finance leadership to ensure accurate reporting, strong controls, and timely insights.

This role emphasizes delivering reliable financial information, assisting budgeting and forecasting, and continuously improving finance processes.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of progressive full-cycle accounting in corporate, multi-entity or public accounting environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and ability to collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Execute full-cycle accounting and financial close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Support budgeting and forecasting for non-construction entities, including variance analysis and cost tracking.
• Research and support the application of technical accounting standards.

Key Impact / Purpose

• Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, and month-end close processes
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and KPI tracking to enable data-driven decision-making
• Strengthen financial processes, controls, and compliance across non-construction corporate entities

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Execute full-cycle accounting and financial close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
• Support budgeting and forecasting for non-construction entities, including variance analysis and cost tracking
• Research and support the application of technical accounting standards
• Support tax compliance activities, including sales tax filings and tax provisions
• Provide support during year-end audits, including responding to auditor requests

Must haves:

• 4+ years of progressive full-cycle accounting experience in a corporate, multi-entity, or public accounting environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience working with ERP systems
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams

Nice to haves:

• CPA designation (completed or in progress)

Expected annual compensation; $74,000 - $88,000.
