Our team brings years of expertise and a shared passion for cultivating the latest genetic strains to deliver exceptional products to our customers.*Role Summary: *The Senior Accountant plays a critical, hands-on role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company?s financial records. This position holds primary responsibility for maintaining the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger, including the preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of key accounts, and oversight of the day-to-day bookkeeping. The role will support the month-end close process, take the lead on monthly government filings and payments, and support financial statement preparation following IFRS. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, technically strong in accounting, and comfortable working in a lean, fast-paced environment where they will be directly involved in transactional, operational, and reporting activities.*Key responsibilities:** Prepares customer invoices and manages customer accounts and account collection.* Reviews and verifies the work prepared by the Junior Accountant to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to accounting standards, including accounts payable entries, credit card transaction recordings, and all bank account postings.* Reviews month-end bank and credit card reconciliations.* Prepares month-end accrual and adjusting entries, including HST, Excise tax, depreciation, etc.* Leads month-end close process, including reconciling period-end general ledger balances and reviewing subledgers for accuracy and completeness, including AR, AP, inventory, and fixed assets.* Takes ownership of the bi-weekly payroll process from start to finish, and prepares and issues Records of Employment (ROEs) as required.* Prepares and submits tax filing and reporting obligations for Excise, GST/HST, and Payroll.* Manages employee expense reimbursements.* Prepares working papers and supports documentation for internal analysis, decision making, and external audits.* Ad hoc support of the Operations team.* Other duties as assigned.*General expectations ** Bachelor?s degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline* Experience with QuickBooks Online is an asset* At least 2 years of full-cycle accounting experience, ideally in a small business or hands-on environment* Comfortable leading transactional work and supporting financial and ad hoc reporting* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment* On-site presence is required; remote work is not available for this position.* Monday to Friday, 8 am-4:30 pm.* Preference for applicants who reside within a 75-KM radius of Chatham, Ontario.*Compensation & Benefits: ** 50k - 65k commensurate with experience.* Extended health benefits* Opportunities for professional development and career growth.* 3 weeks of vacation.Job Type: Full-timePay: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per yearBenefits:* Extended health careSchedule:* Monday to FridayApplication question(s):* This role is a full onsite job, remote work is NOT an option.
