Overview
Our client in Toronto, ON is actively looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team.
Position Description
- Prepare month end journal entries for assigned account portfolio
- Prepare G / L account reconciliations, reporting, analysis, year-end to ensure all financial records are accurate and up to date
- Process government remittances and reporting
- Manage and report on Eco and Stewardship Fees
- Management, administration, and reporting of all intercompany transactions
- Provide support to the Order Desk daily with tasks such as backorder ETA responses
- Manage logistics vendors, review invoice and approve freight invoices
- Build complex Financial Models and perform Financial Analysis with insights on expenditure forecast with a concentration on Logistics costs
- Support Supply Planning Department on urgent daily tasks, with a concentration on our Mass Channel Retailers
- Assist in administration and backup of Corporate Service programs, such as corporate hotel programs, loyalty reward programs, etc.
- Complete miscellaneous A / P and A / R and other tasks as assigned and act as backup to the department
- Assist the Controller and Vice President in various aspects of their roles as assigned, including but not limited to projects, KPI planning, and new initiatives
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing and coordinating the delivery of documentation
- Assist Management with A / P Vendor onboarding administration
Skills & Qualifications
- College or University degree in Accounting / Finance
- Minimum 5+ years previous work experience as a Senior Accountant or in a similar capacity
- Strong communication skills in English both written and verbal
- Ability to co-ordinate and collaborate with others within and outside the Corporate Administration team
- Possess strong organizational skills that will help with meeting deadlines
- Have solid analytical skills as this role will use analysis to understand a concept more thoroughly
- Attention to detail is paramount to analyzing data and double-check calculations frequently to ensure accuracy
- Problem solve so that questions can be asked, connections can be made, and alternatives can be considered, which will help improve processes, make informed decisions, and develop new efficiencies.
- Hands on experience using Microsoft suite of products particularly with advanced Excel functions
- Flexibility to work additional hours during peak periods such as Month-End and on urgent projects / initiatives / reports
- Posses previous experience in financial modelling, and logistics knowledge or logistics analysis
