Senior Accountant

Our client, a leading custom steel fabricator in North Bay, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA designation preferred) and bring 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing and/or construction environment with experience in job costing.

As a key member of the management team, the successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping operational decisions by providing valuable financial insights, guidance, and strategic input.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Manage month-end reconciliations and closing procedures to ensure accurate, timely reporting.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Lead job costing, WIP, and revenue recognition processes; monitor project profitability.
  • Oversee IT administration for the company’s systems.
  • Coordinate with external accountants during the annual review engagement.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing or construction.
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles (job costing, WIP, revenue recognition).
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and manage a team.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; IT background an asset.
  • Experience with ERP software
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
