Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our client's finance team in Nanaimo, BC region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly financial statements.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support business decisions.
  • Support the annual audit process, working with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Maintain general ledger and chart of accounts accuracy.
  • Ensure timely tax filings and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation preferred (or actively pursuing CPA certification).
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
