Position Description

The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of financial operations within the organization. This position is responsible for overseeing daily accounting activities, supporting the monthly closing process, and ensuring the accurate preparation of financial statements. The role also involves cost analysis, audit preparation, and cross-departmental collaboration to enhance financial performance.

With a strong foundation in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and extensive experience in manufacturing accounting, you will bring a results-driven approach to managing key financial responsibilities.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to contribute to a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will serve as a vital partner in driving financial accuracy and supporting the company’s growth objectives.

Costing Excellence

  • Implements and maintains costing models for new product proposals from Sales and R&D.
  • Ensures the accuracy of costing models by refining and updating them as needed.
  • Analyzes product pricing and margins to recommend optimal price points.
  • Manages material master data and bills of materials in the ERP system, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

Fixed Asset Management

  • Maintains continuity schedules and ensures all projects have proper authorizations.
  • Tracks actual spend against budgeted amounts for capital projects.
  • Month-End Mastery

  • Ensures the timely completion of month-end processes.
  • Prepares accurate journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and analyses.
  • Files HST returns and submits monthly reports to Statistics Canada and the CDC.
  • Year-End and Audit Support

  • Assists in the preparation of year-end working files and financial statements aligned with GAAP.
  • Contributes to the year-end budgeting process under the direction senior finance management.
  • Backup for Critical Functions

  • Accounts Payable : Provides support by verifying account codes and assisting with AP operations as needed.
  • Inventory Management : Makes inventory adjustments in software and prepares reconciliations with 3PL warehouses.
  • Experience

    A minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing accounting role, with expertise in cost analysis and financial reporting.

    Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is strongly preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and proficiency in ERP systems, particularly in cost accounting and data integrity.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
