About the job

Our TorontoJobs.ca client, a growing CPA firm dedicated to providing high-quality service while fostering a collaborative and supportive team atmosphere is looking for a Senior Accountant who will play a key role in managing assurance and compilation engagements, preparing corporate and personal income tax returns and working closely with partners to assess client needs and offer expert advice. You will lead engagements, mentor junior team members, and ensure high standards of work while maintaining a flexible, confidential, and collaborative approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead client engagements, collaborating with partners and managers to plan and execute projects effectively.
  • Prepare working papers, review complex tax returns, and compile financial statements with customized note disclosures.
  • Maintain communication with clients, managing engagement timelines and facilitating client meetings.
  • Supervise junior team members, offering guidance and training on larger engagements.
  • Regularly communicate with partners to update on engagement progress and resolve any issues.
  • Finalize and deliver financial statements and workpapers for partner/manager review.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of client businesses and proactively address their needs.
Qualifications
  • University degree and CPA, CA designation with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a CPA firm, including audit experience and demonstrated leadership in managing engagements and teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), with a focus on client service.
  • Comfortable working independently while being a collaborative team player.
  • Proficient in the standard software applications commonly used in CPA firms.
  • Solid knowledge of Canadian corporate and personal tax matters.
