Job description

A professional services firm in the accounting sector is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their growing team . This role offers exposure to diverse client portfolios, complex financial engagements, and the opportunity to work closely with firm leadership. It’s ideal for professionals with a strong background in public accounting and full-cycle financial reporting.

About the Role :

Reporting into the firm’s senior leadership, this position is responsible for overseeing full-cycle accounting functions for a range of clients across various industries. The role involves preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing client relationships, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and deadlines.

What You’ll Do :

  • Manage the preparation and review of financial statements, working papers, and client reports
  • Oversee general ledger reconciliations, adjusting entries, and year-end closings
  • Act as a primary point of contact for client inquiries, providing sound accounting advice and service
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory filings, and internal quality controls
  • Collaborate with junior staff and support their development through training and file review
  • Participate in special projects including tax planning support, system migrations, and process improvements

What You Bring :

  • CPA designation (or in final stages) and post-secondary education in accounting or finance
  • 3–5+ years of experience in public accounting or professional services environments
  • Proficiency in full-cycle accounting, financial statement preparation, and assurance engagements
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with cloud-based accounting tools or CaseWare (an asset)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with a client-focused approach
  • Experience working with small to mid-sized businesses across various industries is an asset
