Join Our Progressive CPA Firm as a Senior Accountant!

Location : Edmonton, AB (Hybrid)

Position Type : Full-time (Also open to considering 0.8 FTE).

You are an experienced Senior Accountant seeking to make a meaningful impact by helping guide our staff and clients while experiencing professional growth and fulfillment without sacrificing your personal life.

Clearly Financials is passionate about helping small businesses thrive by providing them with expert financial guidance. We prioritize our team’s well-being, knowing a happy, balanced team delivers the best results.

This role offers you the unique opportunity to work closely with the firm’s Owner and Principal CPA. You’ll benefit from direct mentorship and insight into how the business is run, while contributing meaningfully to client work and Firm initiatives.

Why Choose Clearly Financials?

At Clearly Financials, your contributions are welcome, heard and valued. You’ll have the chance to shape meaningful outcomes for clients and colleagues alike. We’re a close-knit team that values collaboration, celebrates success, and recognizes the contributions of each member. Join us to enjoy :

  • Flexibility : We have a hybrid model offering both flexibility and connection. You are in the office 1 or 2 days per week. You can work in-office more often if that’s how you prefer to work. We host occasional in-person meetups to help foster a strong, connected culture.
  • True Work-Life Balance : Enjoy flexible core hours and seasonal adjustments during busy times, ensuring you have time for what matters most.
  • Supportive Team Culture : Collaborate with a team who values mentorship, professional growth, and celebrating wins together. Work with leaders who genuinely care about you.
  • Modern Tools & Innovation : We invest in technology and appreciate streamlined processes to provide high-value accounting and tax work instead of repetitive tasks.

What You’ll Do :

  • Review financial statements and tax returns with precision and client satisfaction in mind.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting technicians, fostering their growth and development.
  • Provide clear, actionable financial guidance to small business clients.
  • Contribute to process improvements and deliver exceptional client service.
  • During personal tax season, you may work additional hours to meet client needs, including extra hours during the week or an occasional weekend day. To maintain balance, this effort is offset by shorter workweeks during less demanding times of the year. Outside of tax season, additional hours are generally not expected.
  • Manage client relationships effectively, fielding technical questions and participating in ancillary client meetings as needed.
  • Business development is not a requirement of this role, though opportunities to contribute to onboarding and client growth are available.

What You Bring :

  • 5+ years of public practice experience, with direct client interaction preferred.
  • CPA designation (CA, CGA, CMA) is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered in place of a designation.
  • Strong technical skills, including expertise with CaseWare files and financial reporting.
  • A passion for supporting small businesses and simplifying complex financial concepts for clients.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, displaying a detail-oriented mindset.

What We Offer :

  • Competitive Salary : Salary range starting at $90,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package (medical and dental).
  • Professional Development : We cover professional development costs and tailor your role to match your skills and interests.
  • Referral Incentive Program : Earn rewards for helping us grow our team and client base.
  • Positive Team Culture : In addition to flexibility and a supportive team environment, we also build connections through team-building activities and a bi-annual retreat after your first year.

What Sets Us Apart :

Unlike larger firms, Clearly Financials prioritizes flexibility, meaningful client relationships, and personal growth. Our supportive environment ensures you’re more than just a number—you’re an integral part of our success.

Important Notes about what we are looking for :

  • To fulfill the scope of this role, we are seeking someone with established experience - either a CPA designated professional or someone with significant relevant experience without a designation. This role is not intended for individuals currently pursuing, or looking to pursue, their CPA designation. We are looking for someone best suited to contribute their expertise immediately.
  • Canadian public practice experience.
  • Only candidates located in Canada and currently eligible to work in Canada.
