A leading company in the energy sector is seeking a Senior Accountant to reinforce their Americas Ledgers and Controls team. The successful candidate will engage in financial reporting, debt management, and compliance with accounting standards. Applicants should hold a degree in accounting or finance, possess relevant experience, and ideally have CPA or CMA certification. This role also emphasizes attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
The Senior Accountant's main function is to support the day-to-day functions of the Americas Ledgers and Controls team, including, but not limited to preparing financial statements, performing reconciliations, analyzing financial data, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, support to accounts payable and accounts receivable for the assigned location and business Unit.
This role requires frequent interaction within the Americas Accounting Shared Service Center, Corporate Functions (payroll, tax, fixed assets, etc.), Operations, as well as with colleagues from all regions.
Responsibilities including adherence to controls as it relates to expense and revenue recognition, fixed asset management, payroll, inventory management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, intercompany, recording and monitoring reserves and supporting other shared service activities for the Americas Region.
The Senior Accountant will also support Canada, and the Americas region month end close process under the direction of the Accounting Manager and will be responsible for posting journal entries, performing POC revenue recognition calculations and performing other trial balance account analysis, validations and reconciliations as assigned.
This position will require adherence to Elliott accounting policies and procedures and the ability to meet strict deadlines. The incumbent will work with the Accounting Manager and Regional Manager to develop identify synergies and improvement areas to handle special situations.
Job Responsibilities:
Participate in month end close activities (journal entries, calculations and analysis, inter- unit/intercompany and other account validations).
Support the Physical Inventory (stock, WIP, fixed assets).
Support US GAAP/IFRS revenue recognition and accurate cost.
Reconcile activity in the general ledger to ensure completeness and accuracy for financial reporting.
Preparation of Balance Sheet Reconciliations in ARCS – Oracle.
Prepare variance analysis to prior periods as requested.
Support financial reporting for the Global Services Field Service and Repairs product lines in accordance with guidelines and provide accurate, consistent and timely data.
Support Internal and External Audits.
Process payroll for Global Services.
Fixed Asset Management for Global Services.
Maintaining Warranty files for Global Services.
Full cycle of Accounts Receivable.
Full cycle of Accounts Payable.
Limit FX exposure using hedging where necessary.
Prepare bank reconciliations.
Prepare cash flow and ensure credit control.
Assist Tax Department with tax issues and reporting as necessary.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and income tax filings, as necessary.
Identify synergies, in conjunction with the Americas Regional Accounting management team, to improve the effectiveness of the workflow.
Maintaining internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
Undertakes special assignments and projects as directed by Accounting Manager or the Regional Manager Ledgers & Controls, Americas.
Job Requirements:
This position requires a Bachelor's of Science degree in Accounting or Finance related major and at least five years directly related work experience.
Or a two-year degree in an Accounting or Finance related major and six years of accounting experience in a manufacturing operation.
CPA or CMA certification is highly preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy and precision in financial records and reports.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize work efficiently.
Knowledge of internal control practices.
Advanced personal computer skills are necessary with direct experience in spreadsheets, word processing, databases and computerized accounting systems required.
The incumbent must have experience supporting and interacting with Operations and a strong financial controls background.
