Job description

Join our team as a Senior Accountant for our manufacturing facility located in Delta, B.C.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant with a strong focus on inventory accounting to join our Finance team. In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of inventory records, managing and overseeing physical inventory counts for our clinics across Canada and the US, and supporting the month-end close process. The ideal candidate will work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to maintain accurate inventory valuations and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.

We are ideally seeking a candidate located in Delta BC. Our Home Office is located in Delta, BC.

What Will You Be Doing?
  1. Performing a variety of period-end closing procedures including preparing or approving manual journal entries, working papers, and reconciliations to ensure timely, accurate, and complete financial information.
  2. Analyzing and reconciling variances between the general ledger, sub-ledger, and systems.
  3. Assisting in the evaluation of periodic results, including explanations for the budget, forecast, and prior year variances.
  4. Managing quarterly inventory counts for over 350 clinics across all subsidiaries, including coordination, preparation, review, and analysis of count information; supporting management and clinics on an ongoing basis.
  5. Analyzing, reviewing, and presenting inventory and gross margin results on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, providing insights to senior management and clinics.
  6. Analyzing inventory transactions and variances, including purchase price, standard cost, usage variances, and transfers between subsidiaries.
  7. Preparing and posting journal entries related to inventory and cost of goods sold during month-end close.
  8. Guiding, supporting, and reviewing the work of junior accounting staff, promoting accuracy, growth, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  9. Collaborating with Operations and Supply Chain teams to improve inventory accuracy and control processes.
  10. Establishing, maintaining, and improving internal controls, accounting procedures, and SOPs as needed.
  11. Supporting the audit for inventory-related matters.
  12. Supporting continuous improvement initiatives around inventory processes and financial reporting.
  13. Assisting in the completion of ad hoc or special projects as required.
As The Successful Candidate You Have:
  1. CPA designation and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  2. 3-5 years of accounting experience with a strong focus on inventory or manufacturing preferred.
  3. Experience with ERP systems (Netsuite preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
  4. Solid understanding of ASPE, financial regulations, and internal controls.
  5. Experience with Power BI and Power Query is considered an asset.
  6. Experience in the retail and/or health sector is considered an asset.
  7. High attention to detail, organized, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  8. Self-motivated with exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  9. Ability to build strong relationships with Senior Leadership and support teams to influence and drive change.

The expected compensation for this position is between $79,700 and $90,000 annually, considering factors like experience, skills, and qualifications.
