Job summary

A recruitment agency in Toronto is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to manage financial operations and support month-end processes. The ideal candidate should have strong IFRS knowledge, CPA designation, and proven leadership skills. This role offers an opportunity to enhance financial reporting and internal controls within a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS, knowledge of US GAAP is a strong asset.
  • CPA designated or near completion of the program.
  • Audit firm training is a must.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to pick up new technology quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Review and oversee the work of Staff Accountants to ensure accuracy.
  • Lead and support the month-end close process.
  • Preparation of journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Review and document internal controls.
  • Manage operational assets including tracking and depreciation.
  • Contribute to efficient accounting processes.

Job Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Toronto

Salary range: $90,000-95,000

The Opportunity: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our client's finance team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to financial operations, reporting accuracy, and process improvements in a dynamic and evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and oversee the work of Staff Accountants to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with accounting standards
  • Lead and support the month-end close process, ensuring timely preparation of financial statements and related reports
  • Preparation of journal entries and reconciliations
  • Review and document internal controls, support external audit preparation
  • Manage operational assets, including tracking, depreciation, and decommissioning activities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of efficient accounting processes and internal controls to enhance workflow and accuracy
  • Provide support for ongoing financial reporting in compliance with IFRS

What we need from you:

  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS, knowledge of US GAAP is a strong asset
  • CPA designated or near completion of the program
  • Audit firm training is a must
