Job summary

Qualifications

• Must hold a Bachelor of Accounting or possess captive insurance experience.
• Experience in (re)insurance accounting is required.
• IFRS 17 experience is essential.
• Captive management experience is highly desirable.
• CPA, CPA candidacy or equivalent and insurance designations are advantageous but not required.
• Proven ability to lead a team of financial services professionals.
• Track record of improving productivity, processes and methods.
• Strong relationship-building skills across the industry and regulators.
• Ability to research and implement new or revised accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Job description

Our client is one of the world's leading captive insurance managers, administering captive programmes for major multinational corporations across a wide range of industries. They're looking for a Senior Accountant to join their Calgary team, leading client service for a portfolio of captive insurance companies.

This is a chance to combine technical (re)insurance accounting with genuine client leadership. You'll be the main point of contact for senior stakeholders in risk management, corporate controllership, tax and legal, and you'll work closely with auditors, actuaries and investment managers. You'll also build and develop your own team in a business that actively supports career progression.

What you'll be doing
