Description: As the Senior Accountant, you are responsible for the accurate and timely entry and reporting of data in the company financial systems. You will handle accounts receivables, subcontract management, payroll, equipment time entry, accounts payable, month-end closing, and key financial reporting/analysis. You will collaborate with management and project teams through effective communication to ensure data accuracy, timeliness, and completeness, while helping leverage data to improve business performance.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Cost reporting and strategic analysis
• Implementation and management of effective Project Cost Controls
• Understanding and articulating project contractual commercial terms
• Communicating reporting information with leadership
• Influencing collective agreement development and implementation
• Coordinating documentation for invoicing
• Collecting third-party invoices to support client billings
• Managing receivables
• Preparing monthly equipment rental billings
• Preparing progress billings, invoices, and holdback releases
• Processing electronic billing submissions and reconciliation
• Tracking outside rental agreements against contracts
• Ensuring timely time entry for payroll management
• Collaborating with project management on potential change orders
• Preparing month-end journal entries

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in a construction company
• Post-secondary business degree
• Experience in commercial construction
• Knowledge of construction methods and accounting principles
• Proficiency with construction software systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Salary:

Negotiable based on experience

Full-time onsite in Calgary
