Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in the Burnaby Office. This full-time role is essential to the accurate and timely processing of accounting transactions and plays a key part in the month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting. You’ll be working closely with the Senior Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to ensure compliance with GAAP, and to identify and implement opportunities for process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily banking activities and prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Perform reconciliation of general ledger and subledger accounts.
  • Assisting with preparation of monthly and yearly financial statements with detailed variance analyses.
  • Monitor and clear outstanding items in balance sheet accounts regularly.
  • Prepare PBC (Prepared by Client) audit schedules and address audit queries.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Maintain and enhance financial accounting and control systems.
  • Support foreign currency transaction processing.
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of monthly tax returns and payments.
  • Contribute to ad hoc financial analysis, special projects, and other duties as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • CPA designation preferred (or currently pursuing CPA).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, GAAP, and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
  • Proficient in ERP systems; experience with Microsoft GP is a plus.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Willingness to travel 1 day to our Fraser Valley office as needed.
