Job summary

North Star Windows & Doors is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in Amherstburg, Ontario. The role focuses on month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, inventory analysis, budgeting, and related accounting activities.

The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and capable of independent work while collaborating across the organization. Compensation ranges from $75,000 to $85,000 CAD annually, with placement based on experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • CPA designation or actively pursuing a CPA designation.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant professional accounting experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills across management levels.
  • Strong English reading and writing skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Sage 300 is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support the month-end close process, including preparing and reviewing required accounting entries and reconciliations.
  • Prepare adjusting journal entries and complete account reconciliations to ensure financial information is accurate and complete.
  • Reconcile daily bank transactions and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Track capital expenditures and maintain fixed asset records and administration.
  • Prepare and analyze inventory reports, identifying trends, variances, and potential issues.
  • Import and reconcile daily sales and accounts receivable information.
  • Perform cost centre analysis and prepare ad-hoc financial reports as required.
  • Support the annual budgeting process, including data preparation and analysis.
  • Complete intercompany reconciliations and investigate variances.
  • Support Accounts Payable with general ledger coding and PO review.
  • Assist with other accounting, reporting, and financial analysis activities as required.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently while collaborating with various teams across the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to continue developing their skills and grow within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the month-end close process, including preparing and reviewing required accounting entries and reconciliations.
  • Prepare adjusting journal entries and complete account reconciliations to ensure financial information is accurate and complete.

  • Strong sense of ownership and commitment to accuracy and quality.

Additional Information

Compensation: $75,000–$85,000 annually. Placement within the range will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications relative to the requirements of the role. Candidates who meet the core requirements can generally expect to be placed closer to the midpoint of the range, while those with significant relevant experience may be considered toward the higher end of the range.
