Job Description

What You’ll Do :

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Client and Stakeholder Relations , you’ll be the primary relationship owner and first point of contact for an assigned portfolio of Group Insurance clients, including ELHTs, education affiliates and unions, and other group clients. This includes responsibility for overall client satisfaction and retention.

The Senior Account Manager is also the primary source of expertise for our stakeholders and clients with respect to our Self-Insured LTD product portfolio. The incumbent collaborates with internal service and operational teams to ensure the delivery of superior customer service and meaningful engagement with local affiliate leaders and plan sponsors.

The core parts of your role will be to :

Supporting Stakeholders and Plan Sponsors – 75%

  • Develops and executes annual account management plans for Trust / Affiliate level clients.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with all clients and client stakeholders. This includes identifying service requirements of each client, making periodic visits, providing claims information and resolving issues as required.
  • Resolves product or service problems and client complaints. This includes ensuring a deep enough understanding of the client / member experience to be able to determine the cause of any service problem or complaint and drive solutions to completion.
  • Represents OTIP at client, industry and stakeholder meetings and events. This includes affiliate annual general meetings, Employee Life and Health Trusts (ELHT) Trustee meetings, quarterly affiliate Long Term Disability (LTD) governance meetings, and International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plan (IFEBP) conferences.
  • Ensures a positive image of OTIP is projected and maintained in all external interactions. This includes explaining capabilities and performance, establishing and maintaining positive communications with clients, developing and conducting public relations activities, and marketing the organization and its products and services to affiliates, branch affiliates, and related agencies.
  • Collaborates extensively with internal OTIP teams including Underwriting, Consulting, Self-Insured Services, School Board Relations and Benefits Services to support clients and resolve issues.
  • Participates in client and organizational projects as assigned.

Business Development – 10%

  • Present finalist presentations and implementation working group meetings for new business accounts.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions for assigned client portfolio. This includes analysing the renewal, overseeing preparation of documentation for presentation to clients and advisors with clients and advisors and ensuring the final renewal notification process is executed.
  • Collaborates with OTIP leadership, local and board representatives and the Principal Consultant – Self-Insured Services in identifying and coordinating responses to opportunities for expansion of the OTIP Self-Insured LTD Plan.
  • Collaborates with OTIP’s Marketing and Business Development team to share intelligence and identify opportunities for cross-service.

Advance Organizational Understanding of Local Issues – 10%

  • Identify and report emerging local or provincial issues and trends including bargaining that will impact current and future benefits and / or service requirements.
  • Identify and report on local political issues including turnover, potential moves from local to provincial leadership and issues that may negatively impact the OTIP brand.
  • Make recommendations as required for enhanced attention for specific leaders or locals to ensure positive perception of the OTIP brand.

Other – 5%

  • Provide coverage for other Senior Account Managers (ELHT / LTD) as required.
  • Working closely with assigned Senior Client Relations Consultant.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Let’s Talk About You :

  • An in-depth knowledge of group insurance products as demonstrated by a minimum of 7 years of experience in the industry.
  • Expertise in group benefits plan design, including long term disability plans, underwriting and financial management, legislation and taxation.
  • Proven ability to manage complex client relationships, particularly with large accounts (5,000+ lives).
  • Previous experience in an account management / account executive role is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working with union representatives at local, provincial and national levels.
  • Experience with benefits trusts or multiple-employer group benefits programs is an asset.
  • The demonstrated ability to provide outstanding service in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Highly developed communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple accountabilities, balancing client deliverables on multiple projects and internal obligations.
  • Proven ability to determine business priorities, meet goals, manage high volumes of work and work collaboratively across multiple teams.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • GBA or CEBS accreditation are considered assets.
  • The ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.

Working Conditions :

  • A general office environment or distributed workplace (remote / work from home).
  • Extensive travel is required; a valid driver’s license and automobile are required.
