Corporate Information Management Services (CIMS), City Clerk's Office, is seeking a Senior Access & Privacy Officer responsible for managing access to information functions, including handling Freedom of Information requests, liaising with divisions, and managing appeals with the Information and Privacy Commissioner. The role requires expertise in information management, research, analysis, and knowledge of MFIPPA/FIPPA legislation.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop policies and manage projects related to access and privacy.
  • Conduct research on legislative developments and maintain knowledge of relevant issues.
  • Manage application of MFIPPA and PHIPA, ensuring compliance and effective information management.
  • Advise city officials and staff on access and privacy issues, and communicate with media and the public.
  • Analyze information for exemptions, prepare decision letters, and conduct peer reviews.
  • Ensure third-party rights are protected and manage dispute resolutions with the IPC.
  • Prepare representations and affidavits for IPC proceedings, and liaise with legal services.
  • Provide training on legislation, manage records, and recommend technological improvements.
  • Participate in municipal election processes and ensure service excellence.

Key Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with MFIPPA/FIPPA and PHIPA.
  • Experience with IPC orders and appeal processes.
  • Strong report writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Effective relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational, judgment, and confidentiality skills.
  • Familiarity with FOI request systems and government legislation related to occupational health and safety.
