Job summary

Connex Education Partnership in Handsworth, Birmingham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term role. You will support pupils with autism, ADHD, and other needs through 1:1 and small-group work in a safe, inclusive classroom.

The role requires patience, resilience and excellent communication, with personal care duties as needed. The school day is Monday to Friday, with ongoing professional training and close support from a recruitment consultant.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
  • Must be comfortable providing personal care.
  • A patient, caring and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • TA qualification is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support in the classroom.
  • Assisting with personal care when required.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and daily routines.
  • Working with teachers and staff to create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and social skills.

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding, full-time role in Handsworth? We are currently recruiting a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs in a school setting.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning, develop their independence and reach their full potential.

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties and communication needs.

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support in the classroom.

  • Assisting with personal care, including toileting and changing, where required.

  • Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation, behaviour and daily routines.

  • Working closely with teachers and other support staff to create a safe, inclusive learning environment.

  • Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and social skills.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is essential.

  • Must be comfortable providing personal care.

  • A relevant TA qualification is desirable but not essential.
