Reporting to the Supervisor-Maintenance, the Semi-Skilled Maintenance will:
Perform basic repairs and renovations of building including carpentry, roofing, painting, flooring, acoustics, masonry and concrete work, fencing, and metal work
Repair and perform preventative maintenance of School Board equipment, systems, and facilities
Troubleshoot, repair, and replace School Board plumbing and fixtures
Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on general HVAC mechanical systems
Install, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on locks, doors, and hardware
Install, maintain, and repair school fixtures such as cabinets, shelves, whiteboards, etc.
Assist in deliveries, movement and setup of various types of furniture and equipment, and school functions
Utilize the Board’s work order system to document equipment and building inspections, and tracking inventory
Maintain landscaping, outdoor play and sports equipment, and grounds at School Board locations
Perform other duties as assigned
Work performed will be in accordance with current legislation and St. Clair Catholic District School Board standards to ensure a safe and healthy work environment
Qualifications And Skills
Secondary school diploma
Minimum two years’ work experience in a semi-skilled maintenance position
Ability to perform prolonged standing, lifting, digging, shovelling, landscaping, climbing ladders for roof and ceiling access
Ability and willingness to work outdoors throughout the year
Ability and willingness to work at heights, elevated platforms and ladders, and successfully pass required training courses
Effective communicator, both verbally and electronically, customer service oriented
Effective use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and other web-based applications and databases
Exceptional time-management skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Experience and knowledge of construction trades would be an asset
Ability to operate small commercial landscaping equipment
Possession of a valid Ontario Driver’s license (G-class) and access to a vehicle
