We currently have an opening in Toronto, ON for a :

During the Development Phase, the SEM Underpinning Engineer will be responsible to support the Working Group in developing construction plans, providing constructability input into the design and provide input into the value engineering and risk management processes.

During the Construction Phase, the SEM Underpinning Engineer will be responsible to support the planning and execution of construction activites related to this scope and to ensure safety, quality, on schedule and on budget performance of the activities in accordance with the contract requirements.

How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following :

During the Development Phase :

  • Support the construction planning, sequence, means and methods, staging and scheduling
  • Participate in constructability reviews and provide input into the design development process
  • Support the working group efforts related to risk identification, evaluation and mitigation processes.
  • Support the Value Engineering process related to construction means and methods and design improvement
  • Support the development of cost estimates by the estimating functional team
  • Support the efforts related to developing scope of work for procurement packages for market pricing

During the Construction Phase :

  • Support the planning and execution of underpinning and excavation support systems.
  • Support project execution,ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Ensure all activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Liase with various stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide technical expertise.

Education and Experience :

  • Post secondary education in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in heavy civil construction including underpinning and excavation support on Heavy Civil projects including Infrastructure and rail
  • Experience in planning construction activities
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Project Overview :

The Bloor-Yonge Capacity Improvements Project is a significant undertaking by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) to expand and modernize Bloor-Yonge Station—Canada’s busiest subway hub. This initiative is focused on meeting both current and future ridership needs by improving the station’s efficiency, capacity, and accessibility.

The Kenaidan Murphy Joint Venture (KMJV) is committed to transforming the station to enable faster, more reliable, and more comfortable travel throughout the Greater Toronto Area. The project will deliver upgraded facilities, contributing to a safer, cleaner, and higher-capacity subway system for passengers.
