Job summary

Tilray Brands, Inc. seeks a Seed Production Manager in Manitoba to establish and manage pedigreed seed production, build grower networks, and coordinate cross-functional collaboration to support breeding and supply chain goals.

You will forecast needs up to three years ahead, collaborate with breeders to improve traits, and ensure regulatory compliance for seed sales while driving profitability across the seed network.

Qualifications

• Degree in Agriculture, Plant Science or Agronomy.
• 3-5 years relevant agronomic experience required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage pedigreed seed production for contracted and non-contract growers.
• Collaborate with seed breeders to improve agronomic and food traits of company-owned genetic lines.
• Forecast needs up to 3 years in advance for breeder, foundation, registered and current year’s certified seed requirements.
• Develop and maintain a network of seed growers, cleaners and distributors.
• Operate within Health Canada, CSGA, CSI and CFIA regulations for local and export seed sales.
• Build grower relationships and ensure timely agronomic services.
• Assist in developing and implementing supply chain programs to improve raw materials quality.
• Create agronomic programs to increase grower profitability.
• Establish relationships with growers through education and communication tools.
• Organize grower meetings, tours and trade shows to promote products.

Each Team Member is responsible to report on food safety and/or quality problems to personnel with the authority to initiate corrective actions.

Scope

The Seed Production Manager establishes relationships with growers and associated industry and increasing the scope of their agronomic knowledge base resulting in their success and an increase of business while focusing on seed genetic supply and trait improvements.

Key Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Planning and management of pedigreed seed production and sales for contracted and non-contract growers
• Collaborating with seed breeders to improve agronomic and food traits of company-owned genetic lines
• Forecasting needs up to 3 years in advance for breeder, foundation, registered and current year’s certified seed requirements to supply the needs for the breeding network
• Developing and maintaining a network of seed growers, cleaners and distributors to support the pedigreed seed supply
• Operating within regulations of Health Canada, the CSGA, CSI and CFIA for local and export seed sales opportunities
• Building customer (grower) and industry relationships for hemp grain production domestically and internationally as well as ensuring customer satisfaction through the timely delivery of agronomic services
• Assisting in the development and implementation of supply chain programs to improve the quality of incoming raw materials
• Creating and recommending specific agronomic programs to targeted accounts with the goal of increasing grower profitability from analyzing the crop’s conditions and suggesting suitable management practices
• Establishing and managing relationships with growers through customer education using marketing and communication tools
• Organizing and participating in grower meetings, tours, and trade shows to promote Fresh Hemp Food Ltd. and hemp production
• Other duties as assigned by the organization

Qualifications

• Degree in Agriculture preferably in the field of Plant Science or Agronomy
• 3-5 years relevant agronomic experience is required.
• 3-5 years relevant pedigree seed production experience is required
• Ability to apply high level root-cause and problem-solving skills at all levels and the ability to set priorities and provide appropriate structure to solve problems/issues
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

The expected annual base salary range for this role is $60,000
