Job Description: The Dispatcher will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our hospital premises by providing leadership, direction, and ongoing coaching to our security staff. The candidate must have the following qualities; excellent communication skills, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Provide leadership, direction, and ongoing coaching and training to security staff.
2. Maintain excellent deportment and customer service skills as this is a public-facing/front-facing position.
3. Liaise with visitors, clients, and staff to address concerns and ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
4. Communicate any concerns or issues with the Site Coordinator in a timely manner.
5. Document and investigate security incidents and complaints according to established procedures.
6. Ensure all standing orders and scheduled daily activities are carried out for each shift.
7. Ensure site staff adhere to all Paladin Security and Baycrest Hospital security policies and procedures.
8. Coach staff when necessary and ensure proper documentation is passed onto the Site Coordinator.
9. Monitor and operate numerous systems including access control, CCTV, fire and life safety.
10. Make emergency overhead announcements as needed.
11. Answer telephones and dispatch calls in a timely and efficient manner.
12. Assist in tracking and deployment of security staff to address security concerns.
13. Handle a variety of dispatch duties including incident call taking and coordination.
14. Manage Lost & Found items and ensure proper documentation and procedures are followed.
15. Manage the issuance and return of facility keys and ID/Access cards.
16. Plan and implement shift work schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
17. Ensure all Security Officers have received mandatory training and maintain compliance with training requirements.
18. Manage attendance and address any attendance-related issues as needed.
19. Perform security audits to identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
20. Provide proactive and reactive security patrols to maintain a safe and secure environment.

Qualifications:

1. Experience in Dispatch is preferred.
2. Excellent deportment, customer service, and communication skills.
3. Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
4. Strong leadership abilities with a commitment to coaching and training.
5. Working knowledge of CCTV, access control systems, and other security equipment.
6. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
7. Valid security license and First Aid/CPR certification required.
8. Available to work continental shift.

Prerequisites:

1. Immunization Record - TB 1+2, MMR, Varicella.
2. Double Vaccinated - Full Vaccinated from COVID-19 with 2 doses minimum.
3. Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
4. Valid CPR and First Aid Certification Level C (WSIB approved provider).
5. Vulnerable Sector Check - to be completed upon hire.
6. Proficient in English (both oral and written).
7. Must have a minimum 1-2 years of experience in security.
8. Diploma in Justice studies/police foundations is considered an asset.

Education Requirements (Any): High School Diploma/GED

Certification Requirements (All): Minimum of 1 year security experience, First Aid, CPR Level C, COVID Double Vaccinated, Minimum 1 Year of Dispatch or Scheduling Experience, Police Foundations Diploma / Law and Justice Studies Degree
