Position Title: 2IC
Location: Victoria Shipyard - Esquimalt Graving Dock (Union Site)
Reports to: Site Manager
Wage: $20.57/hr (plus RSP and Benefits)
Shifts: 1500-2300 (plus occasional on-call fill in if needed)
(This position involves covering guard positions at the site)
Job Responsibilities
- Provide superior customer service to client and guards on site.
- Provide access control and security foot patrols, as well as monitor security cameras as needed.
- Assists with training, coaching and scheduling of guards on site.
- Maintains office areas, and helps ensure key control is strictly adhered to.
- Communicates with operations center and managers regarding scheduling and guard issues.
- Ensure security software is functioning and coach guards in its usage.
- Proactively respond to and resolve emergency situations and conflicts.
- Complete emergency response procedures and maintain first aid inventory.
- Implement preventative measures against accidents, thefts and other security risks.
- Communicates important problems, concerns and deficiencies to site manager.
- Possess excellent multi-tasking, problem solving, prioritizing and organizational abilities.
- Have knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and BC Employment Standards.
- Perform all duties with high safety standards and professionalism.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager or client services manager.
Required Education, Qualifications and Experience
- Must have previous supervisory experience (coaching, training, etc).
- Must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant and have lived in Canada for at least 10 years.
- Must be able to obtain a Level II clearance, as well as a Controlled Goods clearance.
- Must be physically fit and able to stand/walk for long periods at a time.
- Must be able to work in a range of weather conditions throughout shift.
- Must possess a valid B.C. security workers license and a valid standard first aid certificate.
- Must be fluent in the English language - written, verbal and reading skills.
- Must have a positive attitude with a professional demeanor, and strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Have excellent attention to detail to fulfill duties and responsibilities and incident report writing.
- Have excellent problem solving skills with an ability to handle emergency situations in a calm manner.
- Have the ability to work independently and make sound decisions in varying situations.
Preference given to candidates who possess an ISPS certification.
Preference given to candidates who have security experience in a marine environment.
