Job description

Incoming professionals with relevant work experience may be subject to higher wages. Premium for Night Shift (22:00-06:00) = $1.00 / hour

The Gateway to Your Future

In this key role, you will be an integral part of the security team, ensuring Gateway’s staff, property, company assets, and valued guests are secure and protected at all times. You will also deliver a high level of customer service, support to staff, and provide accurate reports. The Security Supervisor maintains a presence, patrols gaming and guest activity; conducts door duty and crowd control, and escorts guests and employees as required.

You will perform a number of duties throughout your shift, including controlling access to the facility and sensitive areas, escorting visitors, assisting departments, managing lost and found, monitoring alarm panels, controlling and issuing keys, writing reports, maintaining a daily log, and conducting investigations. You may also be required to provide first aid and medical attention.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervises and manages team performance while participating in security activities
  • Oversees training, coaching, human resources, safety, and recruitment needs of the team
  • Monitors floor traffic: watches for suspicious activity; communicates with management and surveillance
  • Provides excellent customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and providing solutions
  • Escorts individuals within the facility and parking lot(s); may provide first aid; conducts interviews and investigations; writes reports
  • Comply with all applicable laws, policies, and procedures
  • Keep work areas clean and free of safety hazards, debris, and litter
  • Perform all job duties in a safe and responsible manner
  • Adhere to departmental quality standards
  • Perform other related and compatible duties as assigned
What You Bring
  • Previous security experience and security training are strong assets
  • Proven high level of customer service
  • Organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
  • The ability to obtain registration as a Category 1 Gaming Assistant with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario
  • Completion of Gaming Security Officer (GSO) training/exam prior to start (employer will sponsor) OR valid BC Security License and completion of GSO training/exam within 90 days of start
  • ProServe, ProTect, and Deal Us Security Staff Training Program available (In Alberta)
  • Completion of Serving It Right prior to start date (in BC)
