Job Title : Security Specialist

Contract Duration : 6 Months (Extension possible)

Pay range : C$70 - 85 / hr

Location : Toronto, ON

Work Type : Hybrid (Tuesdays and Thursdays), Monday-Friday 9-5

Summary of day-to-day Responsibilities :

• The Crypto Engineering team is looking for a candidate to implement encryption solutions across various applications owned by the Business. Each application is unique, requiring the candidate to gather requirements and apply rigorous testing methodologies to validate encryption impacts.

Job Responsibilities :

This Security Specialist role will be responsible for solutions in areas such as, but not limited to :

• Database Encryption (SQL, MongoDB, Oracle)
• Vormetric / CipherTrust Data At Rest Encryption
• Hardware Security Module (HSM) - Thales, Entrust, Utimaco Attala
• Subject Matter Expert in cryptographic tools (CipherTrust Manager, Symantec Encryption Manager, Venafi)
• Key Management
• Expertise on Linux

Must-Haves :

• Sound technical knowledge in security technologies, frameworks, tools, processes, and procedures.
• 5+ years of experience in Unix / Linux scripting
• 3+ years of experience with native database encryption
• Strong testing principles and methodologies
• Knowledge of Storage (SAN, NAS)
• In-depth understanding of cryptographic and encryption standards (Symmetric / Asymmetric cryptography, Public Key cryptography, Digital signing, Message Digest, Certificate Authority)
• Understanding of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, authentication mechanisms, and networking protocols (SMTP, HTTP, DNS, TCP / IP, SNMP)
• 2+ years’ scripting experience in PowerShell, Python, or similar

Nice to Have :

• Certifications like CISSP, CCSP, or relevant security certifications
• Experience in banking sector

Notes :

• Previous experience with large financial institutions
• Strong background in Linux, databases, and Storage
• Not seeking risk, policies, or compliance managers. Looking for an engineer.
