Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and mentor all security staff on shift to maintain high performance standards and operational readiness.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels and provide ongoing training and performance assessments.
  • Respond to all airport emergencies under the direction of the Contract Manager.
  • Investigate security violations and breaches, conduct witness interviews, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Maintain comprehensive Shift Manager logs and deliver daily briefings to personnel.
  • Attend daily Airport Operations meetings to represent the security team and provide updates.
  • Monitor compliance with Airport Authority programs and policies, reporting as required.
  • Conduct ongoing security risk and threat assessments, escalating concerns when necessary.
  • Perform service audits to ensure teams meet operational and regulatory expectations.
  • Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures and contribute to security policy creation.
  • Collaborate with the Airport Authority AVSEC Department on risk assessments, policy, and procedure development.
  • Supervise day-to-day operations and enforce discipline when necessary.
  • Ensure access control points and the Security Operations Centre are fully operational.
  • Foster strong relationships with tenants, contractors, law enforcement, and community stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Previous security and supervisory experience (aviation or regulated environment preferred).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • High performance, commitment, and motivation.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and reporting tools.
  • Skilled in training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Physically fit, capable of responding quickly to incidents and walking up to 30,000 steps per shift.
  • Valid BC Security License and ability to obtain a RAIC.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with clean driver's abstract.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a rotational schedule (days and nights).
Schedule
  • 4 On / 4 Off Rotation
  • 2 Day Shifts: 05:00 - 17:00
  • 2 Night Shifts: 17:00 - 05:00
