Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking professional, reliable, and customer-focused bilingual Security Guards to join our team in a government-office setting. This full-time role involves access control, visitor management, security monitoring, and emergency response coordination.

The successful candidate will ensure compliance with site security protocols, maintain accurate logs, and provide excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Must be bilingual in English and French (spoken and written).
• CanadianCitizen or Permanent Resident for security clearance eligibility.
• Minimum 1 year security experience; preference for Access Control/Coordination roles.
• Valid Provincial Security Guard Licence; First Aid & CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control site access, badges, credentials, and key control.
• Conduct patrols, inspections, and security checks per Post Orders.
• Oversee daily security operations and supervise Security Professionals on site.
• Monitor CCTV, fire, and building management systems; respond to incidents.
• Document and elevate security incidents, suspicious activity, and policy violations.
• Act as command-and-control during emergencies; coordinate with responders.
• Maintain daily activity logs, shift reports, and security documentation.
• Review reports before submission to management/client.
• Provide professional customer service to employees, visitors, and stakeholders.
• Assist with fire safety, emergency preparedness, and equipment orientation.

Bilingual Security Guard (Full-Time)

Important Note

Candidates must have continuously resided in Canada for a minimum of five (5) years and be eligible to obtain a Government of Canada Reliability Security Clearance.

Position Overview

Allied Universal is seeking professional, reliable, and customer-focused Bilingual Security Guards to join our team in the Vancouver location. This position supports a government office environment and is ideal for individuals with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and secure workplace.

The successful candidate will be responsible for access control, visitor management, security monitoring, emergency response coordination, and ensuring compliance with site-specific security protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and control site access, including badges, credentials, key control, and access records.
• Conduct routine patrols, inspections, and security checks, ensuring compliance with site policies and Post Orders.
• Oversee daily security operations and ensure Security Professionals perform their duties according to site requirements.
• Monitor CCTV, fire, and building management systems and respond appropriately to security or emergency situations.
• Respond to, document, and elevate security incidents, suspicious activity, policy violations, and emergency calls.
• Act as a command-and-control point during emergencies and coordinate with appropriate response personnel/agencies.
• Maintain accurate daily activity logs, shift reports, incident reports, and security documentation.
• Review reports prior to submission to site management/client.
• Provide professional customer service and communication to employees, visitors, clients, and stakeholders.
• Assist with fire safety, emergency preparedness, and equipment orientation.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor or Allied Universal leadership.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident (required for security clearance eligibility).
• Fluent in both English and French (spoken and written).
• Minimum of five (5) years of continuous residency in Canada.
• Minimum one (1) year of security experience.
• Previous experience as an Access Control Officer, Controller, Security Coordinator, or Identification Office Personnel is preferred.
• Valid Provincial Security Guard Licence.
• Valid First Aid and CPR Certification.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with computer-based security systems and reporting tools.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
• Frequent use of hands and arms while operating security systems and equipment.
• Ability to communicate clearly in person, by telephone, and via radio.
• Ability to read and interpret reports, correspondence, and computer screens.
• Valid driver's licence and ability to operate a motor vehicle, if required.
• Ability to occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 25 lbs (11 kg).
• Ability to climb stairs and navigate client facilities as required.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.
