Security Officers - Permanent Part-Time (Multi-Site with SMMH home site)

Role

As a Security Officer at Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC), you are a vital member of the patient care team, responsible for protecting staff, patients, and visitors. Your duties include :

  • Responding to trauma calls as part of the team
  • Locating and reporting safety hazards, correcting them if possible, or submitting maintenance requests
  • Patrolling visitor and staff parking lots, providing escorts during shift changes and upon request, especially during nighttime
  • Responding to gate malfunctions and repairing gates as needed
  • Checking for unlocked doors, broken glass, emergency code malfunctions, property damage, and other safety concerns
  • Maintaining incident reports, security logs, and records of lost and found items
  • Assessing maintenance needs in consultation with nursing staff and deferring non-urgent issues to the next day
  • Providing cash escorts and conducting continuous foot patrols inside and outside the hospital
  • Assisting in missing person searches, patient restraints, and internal / external investigations

Requirements

Education & Certification :

  • Community College Law and Security Program or graduate of a recognized Police training facility
  • Current Security Guard License from the Private Security & Investigative Services branch of the Ministry of Community Safety & Correctional Services
  • Current CPR certification

Skills & Experience :

  • Experience dealing with the public in law enforcement or security roles, preferably in hospitals or police services
  • Regular and punctual attendance

Desired Skills & Experience :

  • Experience as a hospital security guard, working with clinical staff, patients, and the community
  • Experience with mental health patients in emergency settings

Additional Information

Location : Work at both South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital in Huntsville, with a home site at SMMH.

Hours : Must be available for shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends. Shifts may change based on departmental needs.
