Location & Site Description

This role is at Cobequid Pass Rest Area: 209 NS-104, Londonderry, NS B0M 1M0. The site is a vital part of Nova Scotia's transportation infrastructure, with tens of thousands of travelers passing daily.

Position Details

• Position: Full-Time Security Guard
• Site: Cobequid Pass
• Overtime: After 48 hours weekly
• Hours: 4 on, 4 off rotational shifts
• Pay rate: $20.63/hour
• Posting Date: May 1, 2024
• Closing Date: June 1, 2025

Schedule Example: 4 on, 4 off rotation of 12-hour shifts — 4 day shifts, 4 days off, 4 night shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe environment through patrolling, monitoring surveillance, controlling access, and enforcing security protocols.
• Provide exceptional customer service and respond to inquiries.
• Patrol premises to prevent unauthorized entry and manage disruptive behavior.
• Enforce rules, control access, and write reports including activity and incident reports.
• Use radios and computer applications for communication and documentation.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain a Security License for Nova Scotia.
• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C certification.
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, professional demeanor.
• Physical ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods.
• Comfortable handling emergency situations involving trauma, aggression, intoxication, etc.
• Basic skills in technology use: report writing, patrol tracking, communication.
• Excellent verbal and written English skills.
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) preferred; training can be provided.
• Legally authorized to work in Canada.
