Description
Hitachi Rail Canada is seeking an enthusiastic self-motivated Security Manager (Design and Delivery) to work on our Canadian Rail Projects. As the successful candidate your ideas for continuous improvement and creativity are welcome. The position is based in the Toronto, ON Canada.
Job Description
The Security Manager, Design and Delivery, is responsible for security design, site coordination, visits, and inspections. The role involves conducting Security Risk Assessments (SRA), writing professional reports, and coordinating with physical and cybersecurity teams, security system designers, other interdisciplinary designers, and on-site security guard patrols.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough and technical design reviews to verify security measures, solutions and systems integration are incorporated into the project and operations.
- Coordinate with site managers to plan and execute site visits and inspections.
- Supervise security patrollers and oversee their activities to support effective patrolling services.
- Conduct Security Risk Assessments (SRA) to identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Write detailed reports on findings from site visits, inspections, and risk assessments, providing actionable recommendations.
- Receive and manage daily incident reports and the timely resolution of security issues.
- Collaborate with physical and cyber security teams to execute security strategies.
- Work closely with security systems designers to confirm the implementation of effective security solutions.
- Support the development and enhancement of security policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of security trends, regulations, and best practices.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Comprehensive understanding of security design principles and practices.
- Outstanding coordination and organizational abilities for efficient management of site visits and inspections.
- Superior report writing skills, capable of presenting complex information with clarity and precision.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying and addressing security issues.
- Skilled to interact and influence without authority when dealing with Project Co subcontractors, customers, and customer representatives.
- Exceptional communication skills and a strong self-motivated work ethic.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Proficient in English speaking, reading, and writing.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of industry security standards and frameworks, including ISO 22341, IEC 62443, NIST, ISO 31000, and APTA-SS-SIS-S-017-21.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously.
Education and Experience
- Master Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Security Management, Information Technology, Engineering) or equivalent experience.
- Mandatory CPP, Master Degree, 7-10 years of security experience in design, site coordination, contract administration, or a related field in the railway market
- Preferred certifications: CISSP, PSP, PMP, or similar.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting Security Risk Assessments for critical infrastructure, leading presentations and writing detailed reports.

- Skilled in interacting with direct and indirect reporting employees and with company managers;
- Skilled in interacting with subcontractors and with customers and customer representatives;
- Excellent communication skills and a strong, self-motivated, work ethic;
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure;
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access);
- Proficient in English speaking, reading, and writing;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work on multiple demands simultaneously.
- Clear Background Check (Criminal)
This position requires an individual who is proactive and detail-oriented, capable of efficiently managing security design and delivery processes. The role involves leading meetings and overseeing contractors to verify security measures are compliant, comprehensive, and collaborative.
