Job Description

Working on assigned shifts, you will provide proactive and reactive security patrols, respond to incidents, write reports, investigate routine incidents, and respond to emergencies efficiently. You should display excellent customer service skills and be able to work under stress or in medical situations. Physical fitness to stand and walk long periods is essential.

Essential Job Functions

• Provide security patrols and responses in the mental health ward
• Write reports and investigate incidents
• Respond to emergencies quickly
• Work with vulnerable populations and monitor security concerns
• Assist in developing security plans for high-risk patients
• Provide security presence and support in the Emergency Department
• Use verbal de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts
• Oversee patient watch guards and collaborate with law enforcement and emergency services
• Ensure safety of staff, patients, and visitors

Prerequisites

• Immunization Record and Ontario Security Guard License
• First Aid and CPR Level-C Certification
• Proficiency in English (oral and written)
• Willingness to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check
• Full COVID-19 vaccination (proof required)

Additional prerequisites include ability to commute to Toronto for training, certifications in Use of Force and Management of Aggressive Behaviour from ASP provider, and legal work authorization in Canada.
