Job summary

Allied Universal in Balzac, AB is hiring a Security Guard - Retail Centre to protect people, property and assets while maintaining a safe work environment. The ideal candidate will have strong observation, communication skills and the ability to respond quickly to emergencies during assigned shifts (Fri to Tue, 1600–2400).

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of security experience in retail preferred.
• Alberta Security Services Worker Licence required.
• First Aid & CPR certification required.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada and able to work up to 40 hours weekly.
• Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Office, report writing, and incident documentation.
• Experience using CCTV, access control, and alarm monitoring systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with strong customer service.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle incidents independently or with a team.
• Experience in access control or corporate office security is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Patrol interior and exterior sites to maintain a safe and secure environment.
• Maintain high visibility at security posts and cover restricted areas.
• Enforce access control by verifying IDs, issuing badges, logging entries.
• Monitor CCTV, access control, and alarm systems.
• Communicate with security personnel and management; report incidents promptly.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with emergency services.
• Complete incident reports, logs, and handover documentation.
• Protect company property from theft and vandalism.
• Identify and address security and safety concerns.
• Learn and adapt to new security technologies and procedures.

• Experience using CCTV monitoring, access control systems, and alarm monitoring systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong customer service abilities.
• Strong observation, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure, manage incidents professionally, and work independently or as part of a team.
• Experience in access control, corporate office security, or similar professional security environments is considered a strong asset.
