Job summary

Guardteck Security, part of Kandor Management Corp., invites applications for security guards to protect people and property in retail environments across our locations in Canada. You will patrol, deter theft, assist customers, and report incidents using clear, professional communication.

Qualifications

• Valid First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain before starting).
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

• Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended 8–12-hour shifts.
• Flexible availability for days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Professional, reliable, and dependable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patrols of the store and surrounding property to deter theft and maintain safety.
• Maintain a highly visible security presence and monitor high-risk areas.
• Respond to incidents, emergencies, and customer concerns; assist with evacuations.
• Provide First Aid, CPR, or AED when required and assist customers professionally.
• Complete accurate incident reports and maintain daily activity logs.
• Monitor CCTV and report suspicious activity; coordinate with staff to maintain a safe environment.

What You'll Do

Protect People & Property

• Conduct regular foot patrols throughout the store, entrances, exits, parking lot, and surrounding property.
• Maintain a highly visible presence to deter theft, vandalism, and other unauthorized activity.
• Monitor high-risk areas and identify potential security concerns before they escalat[e].
• Support loss prevention initiatives while maintaining a professional and customer-friendly approach.

Respond to Incidents

• Respond promptly to security incidents, disturbances, medical emergencies, and customer concerns.
• Apply conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques to resolve situations safely.
• Assist with emergency evacuations and follow established emergency procedures.
• Provide First Aid, CPR, or AED assistance when required.
• Greet and assist customers in a professional and approachable manner.
• Provide directions, answer general inquiries, and create a welcoming shopping environment.
• Work closely with store management and staff to maintain a safe workplace.
• Enforce site policies with professionalism, fairness, and respect.

Reporting & Documentation

• Complete accurate incident reports, occurrence reports, and daily activity logs.
• Document observations, safety concerns, and security-related incidents clearly and professionally.
• Monitor CCTV systems and report suspicious activity.
• Inspect emergency exits, entrances, and other high-risk areas.
• Report hazards, damaged equipment, and maintenance concerns promptly.
• Maintain accountability for company-issued equipment and follow all site procedures.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Valid First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain before starting).

• Basic computer and smartphone skills for report writing.
• Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods during 8–12-hour shifts.
• Flexible availability for days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in retail security, loss prevention, customer service, hospitality, or another customer-facing role.
• Use of Force Certification.
• Experience working in busy retail environments.
• Knowledge of theft prevention and conflict de-escalation techniques.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment with continuous customer interaction.
• Ability to patrol both indoor and outdoor areas, including parking lots.
• Ability to respond quickly and professionally during emergencies.
