Site Overview: Groves Memorial Community Hospital (GMCH) is a rural acute-care hospital in Fergus, Ontario, serving over 34,500 residents and treating more than 68,000 patients annually. It offers 24/7 emergency care, obstetrics, surgery, inpatient and outpatient services, diagnostics, and ambulatory care.

Position: Part Time Security Guard

Site: Groves Memorial Community Hospital

Address: 131 Frederick Campbell St, Fergus, ON N1M 0H3

Hours: Saturday & Sunday (0600-1800 hrs)

Pay Rate: $19.78/hr.
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is under an Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Key responsibilities:

• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure safety and security.
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, reporting suspicious activity immediately.
• Access Control: Monitor and control entry points, ensuring only authorized individuals access restricted areas.
• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergencies, assisting hospital staff during crises and evacuations.
• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff, providing directions and ensuring policy adherence.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations and resolve conflicts professionally.
• Report Writing: Document incidents, accidents, and daily activities accurately.
• Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with staff and law enforcement for coordinated security.
• Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure policies are followed and violations addressed appropriately.

Requirements:

1. A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
2. Proficient in English (oral and written)
3. Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services (asset)
4. Minimum 1 year security experience in healthcare
5. Proof of double Covid Vaccination
6. Immunization Record (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, TB skin tests 1 and 2)
7. Valid First Aid and CPR Level C Certification
8. Able to work outdoors for long periods
9. Authorized to work in Canada
10. Certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB) or willing to complete Paladin's training prior to onboarding. Note: Training is unpaid but covered by Paladin with a 6-month commitment.
