The Office of Campus Safety is seeking to fill five (5) vacancies :

  • Three (3) Part-Time
  • Two (2) Full-Time

This position is designated as one that may require a different work week and/or hours of work, and is comprised of 40 hours per week. This may include evenings and/or weekend shifts. Applicants must be willing to work shift work.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Campus Safety, the successful candidate will provide a higher level of security, fire protection, and health and safety to all students, faculty, staff and visitors, as well as the protection of property.

  • Enforce laws and regulations on campus;
  • Direct traffic and enforce traffic regulations;
  • Investigate complaints, offences and traffic accidents;
  • Conduct security and fire patrols of campus buildings and grounds;
  • Perform traffic and crowd control at special events; Supply information to the general public of a regulatory and directional nature;
  • Provide first-response emergency assistance;
  • Provide money escorts, collection, maintenance of machines and delivery to the Treasury Department;
  • Maintain parking equipment;
  • Provide monthly inspections of emergency phones, parking lots and elevators;
  • Submit reports concerning assigned activities; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • College diploma preferably in Law and Security
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of security or police experience
  • In possession of a current Ontario Security Guard license;
  • In possession of a current “G” Ontario Driver’s license in good standing;
  • In possession of a driver’s abstract in good standing;
  • Ability to work at the Ramsey Lake location and the McEwen School of Architecture;
  • Good health and physical condition;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate, CPR ‘C’ with defibrillator training; and
  • Ability to work fluently, orally and in writing, in both official languages, French and English, is required.

The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.

Fonctions
  • Le ou la titulaire du poste relève du ou de la gestionnaire de la sécurité du campus et doit
  • Assurer la sécurité du personnel, de la population étudiante et des visiteurs sur le campus de l’Université Laurentienne;
  • Faire appliquer les lois et règlements sur le campus;
  • Diriger la circulation et faire appliquer les règlements de la circulation;
  • Mener des enquêtes sur des plaintes, des délits et des accidents de la route;
  • Effectuer des patrouilles de sécurité et de sécurité-incendie dans les édifices et sur les terrains du campus;
  • Contrôler la circulation et la foule lors d’événements spéciaux;
  • Fournir au grand public des renseignements sur la réglementation et pour s’orienter;
  • Apporter les premiers secours d’urgence;
  • Escorter les personnes transportant et recueillant de l’argent, assurer l’entretien des machines et la livraison au Trésor;
  • Entretenir le matériel de stationnement;
  • Inspecter chaque mois les téléphones d’urgence, les terrains de stationnement et les ascenseurs;
  • Remettre des rapports sur les activités assignées;
  • S’acquitter des autres tâches qui lui sont confiées.
Exigences
  • Diplôme collégial, de préférence en droit et sécurité, ou expérience connexe équivalente;
  • Permis en règle d’agent de sécurité de l’Ontario;
  • Permis de conduire de catégorie G de l’Ontario en règle;
  • Dossier de conduite en règle;
  • Capacité de travailler au campus sur le chemin du lac Ramsey et de l’École d’architecture de la Laurentienne;
  • De deux à trois ans d’expérience dans les services de sécurité ou policiers;
  • Bonnes santé et forme physique;
  • Capacité de travailler de façon autonome;
  • Excellentes compétences de communication, de rédaction et de relations interpersonnelles;
  • Certificat valide de premiers soins, RCR avec formation sur l’utilisation d’un défibrillateur;
  • Capacité de travailler aisément (oralement et par écrit) dans les deux langues officielles, français et anglais, obligatoire.

Les heures d'ouverture officielles de l'Université sont de 9 h à 16 h 30, du lundi au vendredi, de septembre à avril, et de 8 h 30 à 16 h du lundi au vendredi de mai à août, soit trente-trois heures et trois quarts (33,75) par semaine.
