Securicare in Powell River (BC) is hiring a part-time Security Guard to support our healthcare facility. This 20-hour weekly role starts as soon as possible, at $24.50 per hour. You will monitor access, patrol interior/exterior areas, respond to incidents, and document events in clear reports.

Ideal candidates hold a valid BC Security Guard License, have healthcare security experience, and can work varying shifts including weekends. Join a team committed to safety and patient care.

Qualifications

• Valid BC Security Guard License required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with diverse individuals in a healthcare setting.
• 1+ year of security experience, preferably in hospital/healthcare.
• Excellent observational and problem-solving abilities; remain calm under pressure.
• Basic computer skills for report writing and incident documentation.
• Ability to complete detailed reports, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Post-secondary education in Police Foundations, Community Justice Services, or Law is preferred.
• Enforcement experience is an asset.

Responsabilités

• Monitor entry points and control access to the healthcare facility; verify credentials.
• Conduct regular patrols of interior and exterior areas to deter unauthorized access.
• Respond promptly to security incidents including medical emergencies and disturbances.
• Follow emergency protocols (lockdowns, evacuations) to ensure safety of patients and staff.
• Interact with patients, visitors, and staff calmly; resolve conflicts and address concerns.
• Use de-escalation techniques to manage volatile situations and prevent violence.
• Monitor security cameras, alarms, and surveillance systems for suspicious activity.
• Document all security incidents accurately; complete incident reports.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and administrative staff to address security concerns.
• Coordinate with law enforcement and emergency responders as needed.

List of Duties

• Monitor entry points and control access to the healthcare facility, verifying credentials and authorizing entry for authorized personnel.
• Conduct regular patrols of the facility, including interior and exterior areas, to deter unauthorized access and identify potential security threats.
• Respond promptly to security incidents, including medical emergencies, disturbances, and safety hazards.
• Follow established protocols for emergency situations, such as lockdown procedures or evacuation drills, to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
• Interact with patients, visitors, and staff in a calm and respectful manner, resolving conflicts and addressing concerns to maintain a peaceful environment.
• Utilize effective de-escalation techniques to manage volatile situations and prevent escalation to violence.
• Monitor security cameras, alarm systems, and other surveillance equipment to detect suspicious activity and potential security breaches.
• Document all security-related incidents and observations accurately, completing incident reports and notifying appropriate personnel as necessary.
• Collaborate with other healthcare staff, including nurses, physicians, and administrative personnel, to address security concerns and coordinate responses to emergencies.
• Communicate effectively with external stakeholders, such as law enforcement agencies and emergency responders, to facilitate a coordinated approach to security incidents.
