Site Overview: Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) is a state-of-the-art acute care facility in Oakville, Ontario, and part of Halton Healthcare. Opened in 2015, it offers a wide range of services including emergency care, maternal health, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgical care. With 457 beds, OTMH serves thousands annually and is affiliated with McMaster University. The hospital emphasizes patient-centered care through advanced technology and modern design. It’s accessible by public transit and supported by the Oakville Hospital Foundation, which helps fund essential equipment. OTMH is committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care to the growing communities of Halton Region.

Position: Full Time Security Guard Site: Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital Address: 3001 Hospital Gate, Oakville, ON L6M 0L8 Hours: Continental Rotating (0700-1900/1900-0700 hrs.) Pay Rate: $19.19/hr. - $20.59/hr. based on levelling system
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

• Week 1 - Days - Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat

Job Skills / Requirements

Key responsibilities:

• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
• Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.

Requirements:

• A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Proficient in English (both oral and written)
• Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services is an asset
• Proof of double Covid Vaccination
• Immunization Record (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and TB skin tests 1 and 2)
• Minimum 1 year of security experience in a healthcare environment
• Valid First Aid and CPR Level C Certification
• Able to provide a clean shaven face in order to pass a N95 mask fit test
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)

• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position.
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite, however Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6 month commitment to the position/availability.
