  • Position: Full-Time Security Guard
  • Site: St. Joseph's Care Group Facilities - Hogarth Riverview Manor

Address: 300 Lillie Street North, Thunder Bay ON

  • Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours
  • Hours: Monday, Tuesday (16:00-00:00), Saturday and Sunday (08:00-16:00)
  • Payrate: $19.80/hour after completion of site training
  • Posting Date: May 5, 2025
  • Internal Closing Date: May 2, 2025
Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure safety and security.
  • Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, reporting suspicious activity immediately.
  • Operate Switchboard duties including call handling, dispatching, monitoring building alarm systems and CCTV.
  • Access Control: Monitor and control entry points, ensuring only authorized access to restricted areas.
  • Respond to Emergencies: Act swiftly in emergencies, assist hospital staff during crises and evacuations.
  • Provide Use of Force/Restraint as required under the Mental Health Act.
  • Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff; provide directions; ensure adherence to policies.
  • Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations professionally.
  • Report Writing: Document incidents and activities accurately.
  • Collaboration: Work with hospital staff and law enforcement for coordinated security.
  • Enforce Policies: Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, addressing violations appropriately.
Prerequisites
  • Valid Ontario Security License
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C
  • Covid Vaccine (two doses)
  • Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, and two-step TB skin test
  • Valid G class Driver License
  • Fluency in English (oral and written)
  • Experience in security, law enforcement, or related field preferred
  • Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) required or can be obtained via Paladin training (cost covered, 6-month commitment)
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada
