Job Description

Allied Universal is seeking Professional Security Guards in Canada. Title: Security Professionals
Location: Cornwall, Ontario
Type: Part-time
Salary: $20.45 per hour
Shift: 19:00-07:00 or 07:00-19:00

Overview: Allied Universal, a global leader in security services, is currently seeking a highly skilled Security Professional to oversee security operations across the Cornwall area. This position requires a dedicated security professional with a strong commitment to safety, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to maintain a calm, effective response in high-pressure situations. We are looking for individuals who are reliable, flexible, and ready to take on the responsibility of ensuring the security of our client site.

Responsibilities
  • Management of all lost and found items as per site policies.
  • Deal with staff and the public in a confident, professional manner and de-escalate volatile situations. Liaise with people in waiting areas to manage expectations and maintain a de-escalated situation.
  • Regularly patrol interior and exterior building(s) and areas of property, including parking areas. Electronically record check-in points as required by site.
  • Show professional, visible presence in general exterior area, ED waiting room, at access points, shift changes, and at specific locations as requested.
  • Control removal of assets and equipment from the building.
  • Manage building entry and egress access control, as required.
  • Monitor surveillance systems, alarms, intrusion detection systems and fire detection.
  • Notify the Security Manager or designated staff of safety hazards, maintenance problems, unusual events, and suspicious activity.
  • Document duties performed on shift and provide incident notes and reports.
  • Enforce hospital policies related to smoking/vaping on hospital property, including parking lot areas.
  • Understand Purchaser policies and procedures related to security.
  • Perform security escorts as required.
  • Assist, support, and cooperate with staff, police, fire, and EMS as needed.
  • Respond to calls for locking and unlocking doors and elevators, and arrange access to controlled areas (e.g., Morgue, conference rooms, Family Care Centre, stores supplies).
  • Lock/unlock elevators and place in Fire mode for the Fire Department, when required.
  • Respond on scene to emergency codes and other security-related emergencies; participate in debriefings when requested.
  • Respond to secondary sites as required by the Purchaser.
  • Manage and respond to issues at parking lot gates and pay stations.
  • Perform Patient Watch / Rapid Response Security Guard duties as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must have a valid Ontario Security License.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a security guard.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada up to 40 hours a week.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • First aid and CPR level C.
  • Certified Use of Force training; certified to use handcuffs.
Physical Requirements
  • Remain on your feet or walk continuously for an entire shift on various surfaces.
  • Occasionally ascend stairs, ramps, or ladders.
  • Knowledge of all security/fire emergency procedures for hospital environments.
  • Occasionally bend or twist at the waist, knees, or neck to complete tasks.
  • Occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
  • Running may be required.
Additional Requirements
  • Must sign an attestation for the following vaccinations: Mantoux (TB), Measles, Rubella, German Measles, Chicken Pox Varicella, Covid vaccination (1 shot mandatory). Highly recommended: Hepatitis B and Flu vaccinations.
