Job summary

IBM Software's TEAR Security UI POD builds and operates the systems that keep Confluent Cloud secure — RBAC, secrets, audit logging, and identity tooling. Security work is high-trust and high-impact; this is a full-stack role, UI-heavy, building security and identity experiences in React, Redux, and TypeScript, with backend work as needed to deliver a feature end to end.

Our stack runs on Kubernetes in cloud environments and leverages Postgres, Kafka, Grafana, and OpenSearch.

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of software engineering experience; new grads welcome.
• Frontend depth with React, Redux, and TypeScript; cross-stack comfort.
• Proficiency in a backend language (Go/Java) to modify identity backend.
• Solid CS fundamentals and distributed/cloud-native understanding.
• Interest in security concepts (authN/authZ, SSO/OIDC/SAML, encryption).
• Eager to learn, accept feedback, and collaborate with mentors.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and task ownership.
• Frontend mindset with UX quality, performance, and maintainable architecture.
• Security-first mindset and curiosity to own a component end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Deliver well-scoped tasks within the Security UI POD on time with mentorship.
• Build frontend experiences (React, Redux, TypeScript) for security workflows.
• Make backend changes when needed to deliver a feature end-to-end.
• Learn the design and architecture of a security sub-component and become its go-to expert.
• Write one-pagers for sub-tasks and participate in design and PR reviews.
• Apply a security-first mindset across UI and identity services.
• Learn Confluent's coding practices and contribute to operational excellence.
• Collaborate with AppSec and partner teams to implement security requirements.
