Job summary

IBM Software in Toronto is seeking a software engineer to bolster the Security UI POD, building identity and security experiences in React, Redux, and TypeScript, with some backend work as needed. You will collaborate with AppSec, Platform, and product teams to deliver end-to-end features, write design reviews, and contribute to secure coding practices in a cloud-native, Kubernetes environment.

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of software engineering experience; internships/projects welcomed.
• Depth in frontend with React, Redux and TypeScript; comfortable across the stack.
• Proficiency in a backend language (Go/Java/C++); able to modify identity backend.
• Solid CS fundamentals and understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native development.
• Security concepts (authN/authZ, SSO/OIDC/SAML, encryption) encouraged.
• Eager to learn, receive feedback, and collaborate with mentors.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and ownership of tasks.
• You balance frontend craft with safe backend changes when needed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver well-scoped tasks within the Security UI POD on time and with quality.
• Build rich frontend experiences in React/Redux/TypeScript for security workflows.
• Modify identity backend when needed to deliver end-to-end features.
• Learn the design and architecture of security sub-components and become the go-to expert.
• Write design docs or one-pagers and participate in reviews.
• Apply a security-first mindset across UI and identity services.
• Learn Confluent's coding practices, tests, monitoring, and deployment processes.
• Collaborate with AppSec and partner teams to meet security requirements.
