Position and Details

Position: Security Operations Centre Operator

Location: 200 Front Street West, Toronto (Downtown)

Status: Full-Time Nights

Schedule: Monday to Friday - 2300-0700

Pay Rate: $22.66/ Hr

Category: Overtime after 44 hours (ESA)

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the dispatching of the Vendor’s security and operations personnel to calls for assistance and building maintenance services as required.
  • Operate two-way communications systems.
  • Monitor access control and CCTV systems to assist in the follow-up on reported incidents or suspicious activity.
  • Coordinate incident response, including activating emergency services, and directing the Vendor’s security and operations personnel on required actions during incidents and actual and potential emergencies.
  • Maintenance of logs on the reported activities of the Vendor’s security and operations personnel in the field to facilitate effective record-keeping.
  • Review of access control and or CCTV data for follow-up by management and supervisors
  • Answer and follow up appropriately on all incoming communication email/telephone calls to the security department.
  • Regular dealings with the public, employees, and contractors regarding security and operations-related inquiries.
  • Coordinate the activities of third-party contractors, from the initial issue of ID badges to the monitoring of work practices to ensure optimum life safety.
Coordination responsibilities

The SOC Operator must perform, without limitation, the following coordination responsibilities, through the provision of verbal and written direction to the Vendor’s security personnel in the field:

Coordinate the field activities of the Vendor’s security personnel, including issuing patrol duties, assigning calls for service, allocating breaks, and dispatching personnel as required. Coordinate the activities of Vendor’s security and other site personnel during security and safety-related incidents via access control, CCTV, and two-way communications.

Qualifications
  • Three (3) years working in a commercial and or government security environment, in positions of increasing responsibility.
  • Previous leadership and supervisory experience
  • Good understanding of control center procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of access control, CCTV, and life safety systems
  • Ability to learn and willingness to take job-related courses in systems/security disciplines.
  • Emergency response experience is an asset
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills required
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations
Technical skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows-based computing systems (Microsoft Office suite of programs)
  • Proficiency in keyboarding in a timely and accurate manner
  • Familiarity with Access Control/CCTV/Fire & Life Safety equipment/systems.
  • Basic knowledge of building systems (i.e. HVAC, sprinklers, elevators, mechanical systems, etc.)
Prerequisites
  • Must have a valid Standard First Aid & CRP Level C - approved
  • Must have a Valid Ontario Security Guard License
  • Must be Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19 - 2 doses
  • Legally Authorized to work Full-Time
