Role Summary :

Our Edmonton, AB branch is seeking a Security Alarm Technician to join their team. The ideal candidate will complete high-quality installations, service work, and maintain client equipment, including renovations and programming, all while providing superior customer service.

Job Responsibilities :

  1. Coordinate, service, install, and program systems (Intrusion, access control, CCTV, and Intercom) according to customer specifications.
  2. Collaborate positively with management, technicians, subcontractors, and clients on job sites.
  3. Participate in mandatory on-call rotations for after-hours, weekends, and holidays.
  4. Perform service work, ULC inspections, installations, and verification duties as assigned.
  5. Coordinate with sales representatives and security coordinators for deficiencies and assistance.
  6. Meet project estimation and deadlines.
  7. Work flexible shifts as required.
  8. Travel out-of-town frequently.
  9. Be available for on-call duties on a rotational basis.
  10. Follow company EH&S policies.
  11. Stay updated on current alarm technology.

Qualifications :

  1. Electrical training up to a journeyperson Electrician level is preferred.
  2. Basic understanding of electrical codes and requirements.
  3. Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  4. Valid Canadian driver’s license with a clean record.
  5. Knowledge of access control, alarms, and CCTV systems.
  6. Basic alarm industry certification (CANASA) or relevant industry experience, or an electronics/tech college diploma.
  7. Knowledge of computer networking, with relevant certifications.
  8. Security product manufacturer certifications are assets.
  9. Ability to work independently, organized, and under pressure.
  10. Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  11. Understanding of building design and codes.
  12. Ability to adapt to changing environments.
  13. Bondable.
