Job summary

Bombardier in Dorval, QC seeks a Section Chief, Project Engineering to lead the engineering plan and governance for aerospace programs. You will collaborate with the Head of Aircraft Design, manage SOW across development through certification, and align priorities with cross-functional teams.

The role requires a Bachelor in Engineering, 10+ years in aerospace integration, and strong leadership. French and English fluency, travel readiness, and proficiency with MS Office, PLM and ERP systems are

• Bachelor degree in Engineering (PMI certification an asset).
• Minimum 10 years of multidisciplinary aerospace integration experience.
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Fluent in both French and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering plan and governance for programs.
• Collaborate with Head of Aircraft Design and Chief Integrator on priorities.
• Represent the Head of Aircraft Design on project engineering matters.
• Manage Engineering Statement of Work from development to certification & entry into service.
• Manage engineering budget and spend.
• Harmonize engineering schedule to meet program milestones and coordinate with suppliers.
• Ensure controls for tasks, visibility on issues/risks and mitigation plans.
• Participate in program and technical reviews, provide team visibility.
• Co-Chair change board and ensure proposed solutions are complete.
• Coordinate with other project organizations (BFTC, Completions, ...).
• Deploy lessons learned and best practices on derivative platforms.
• Recruit, develop and evaluate employees.

What are your contributions to the team?

• Lead engineering plan and its governance
• Work closely with Head of Aircraft Design and Chief Integrator to align on priorities and decisions
• Represents the Head of Aircraft Design for all matters pertaining to Project Engineering
• Manage the Engineering Statement of Work from all phases of development up to certification & entry into service
• Manage the engineering budget and spend
• Harmonize engineering schedule to support Program milestones and rally the technical teams behind meeting the schedule including suppliers
• Ensure measures are in place to organize and control the engineering tasks and the priorities, with appropriate levels of visibility to issues and risks and associated mitigation plan.
• Participate in program, supplier and technical review providing support and visibility to the team and management
• Co-Chair change board and ensure the completeness of the proposed solutions.
• Coordinate with other project organization (BFTC, Completions, ...)
• Deploy Lessons Learned and Best Project Practices onto the derivative platform
• Recruit, Develop and Evaluate your employees

How to thrive in this role?

• You hold a Bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent. PMI certification is an asset
• You have a minimum of 10 years of experience working with multidisciplinary and technically complex integration in the Aerospace industry with at least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
• You have advanced knowledge of project management and knowledge of the BES
• You have strong people manager and leadership qualities with an ability to mobilize and foster an environment of teamwork within cross-functional teams facilitating discussions and resolving issues to meet the objectives.
• You have demonstrated leadership behaviors that support putting people first, work in teams, value teamwork, and drive for performance excellence while exhibiting a winning attitude.
• You have advanced computer skills with a knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word Excel, Project) as well as databases and PLM and ERP systems applications
• You are willing to travel and work outside of normal business hours on occasion
• You have logical and flexible mindsets, shows initiative, and demonstrate overview/detailed approaches.
• You have strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and build consensus without formal authority
• You must be fluent in both French and English.
