Job summary

Bombardier, a leader in aerospace, seeks a Section Chief, Project Engineering - Defense to drive engineering strategy and governance for complex, multidisciplinary programs. You will collaborate with Program Directors and the Chief Integrator to align priorities and decisions, ensuring successful delivery through all development phases and into service.

You will oversee budgets, schedules, and risk management while leading a team of engineers and specialists.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent required.
• PMI certification is an asset.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in multidisciplinary integration in aerospace.
• Strong leadership and people-management abilities.
• Fluent in both French and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering plan and its governance.
• Align priorities with Program Directors and Chief Integrator.
• Represent Defense Director for Project Engineering matters.
• Manage Engineering Statement of Work through development to certification & entry into service.
• Oversee the engineering budget and spend.
• Coordinate schedule to meet program milestones and align suppliers.
• Ensure visibility into issues, risks, and mitigation plans.
• Co-Chair change board and drive solutions to completion.
• Coordinate with other project organizations (BFTC, Completions, etc.).
• Promote Lessons Learned and best practices across derivative platforms.
• Recruit, develop and evaluate employees.

What are your contributions to the team?

• Lead engineering plan and its governance
• Work closely with Program Directors and Chief Integrator to align on priorities and decisions
• Represents the Defense Director for all matters pertaining to Project Engineering
• Manage the Engineering Statement of Work from all phases of development up to certification & entry into service
• Manage the engineering budget and spend
• Harmonize engineering schedule to support Program milestones and rally the technical teams behind meeting the schedule including suppliers
• Ensure measures are in place to organize and control the engineering tasks and the priorities, with appropriate levels of visibility to issues and risks and associated mitigation plan.
• Participate in program, supplier and technical review providing support and visibility to the team and management
• Co-Chair change board and ensure the completeness of the proposed solutions.
• Coordinate with other project organization (BFTC, Completions, …)
• Deploy Lessons Learned and Best Project Practices onto the derivative platform
• Recruit, Develop and Evaluate your employees

How to thrive in this role?

• You hold a Bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent. PMI certification is an asset
• You have a minimum of 10 years of experience working with multidisciplinary and technically complex integration in the Aerospace industry with at least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
• You have advanced knowledge of project management and knowledge of the BES
• You have strong people manager and leadership qualities with an ability to mobilize and foster an environment of teamwork within cross-functional teams facilitating discussions and resolving issues to meet the objectives.
• You have demonstrated leadership behaviors that support putting people first, work in teams, value teamwork, and drive for performance excellence while exhibiting a winning attitude.
• You have advanced computer skills with a knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word Excel, Project) as well as databases and PLM and ERP systems applications
• You are willing to travel and work outside of normal business hours on occasion
• You have logical and flexible mindsets, shows initiative, and demonstrate overview/detailed approaches.
• You have strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and build consensus without formal authority
• You must be fluent in both French and English.
