Job description

Secretary / Learning Commons

Location: Mountview Elementary School

37.5 hours weekly following the school calendar (10 months per year)

Commencing June 9, 2025 or as otherwise arranged

The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing administrative support within the office and for Student Records, while also overseeing the school’s learning commons (library). This individual will be relationship-oriented, proactive, and demonstrate leadership in both office administration and the learning commons, all while greeting the public with a warm and welcoming demeanor.

This role offers the chance to work collaboratively as part of an elementary school office team, fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and the community. The candidate will support school-wide access to library resources, facilitate literature exchanges, and ensure materials/organization within the Learning Commons.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Relevant training and experience
  • Proficiency with technology, including Google Workspace for Education, PowerSchool SIS, and Destiny Library
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a trauma-informed approach
  • Effective teamwork, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy school office
  • First Aid certification is considered an asset

This position is paid on grid SE of the Classified Staff grid, with a current range of $20.00 TO $26.03 per hour.
