This is a 40 hour/week, school-year position (with opportunities for summer work) for the Student Services department (504 and Special Education), the Guidance Department and the Main Office. This position is benefits-eligible.
This is a very busy office environment serving the students, staff and the Middle School community.
Knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Infinite Campus, and Google Docs. Strong written and verbal communication skills; judgment and initiative; excellent organizational skills; attention to detail; the aptitude to work independently and good customer service skills required.
The following is a listing of some of the anticipated duties of this position. This is not an inclusive listing:
Duties for the Guidance Department include:
1. Daily organization and the smooth operation of the Guidance Office.
2. Make appointments for school counselors.
3. Assist the school counselors and Administration in creating special projects and presentation coordination.
4. Assemble materials, prepare reports, and submit them to the appropriate individuals in a timely manner.
5. Act as a receptionist for all internal and external visitors in the Guidance Office.
7. Telephone contact with parents, staff, and community.
8. Assist with grade reporting and report card generation, quarterly.
9. Manage technology-based master calendar for scheduling
10. Maintain school website information
11. Perform other duties which may be reasonably requested by the building Administrators, Student Services Director and/or Superintendent of Schools
Duties for Student Services (Special Education and 504) include:
1. Serve as the primary contact for the Department of Student Services at Windham Middle School;
receive, sort, and distribute the mail; respond to telephone, email, fax, or face-to-face correspondence
2. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications,
establishing professional networks, and participating in professional development to stay current on special education laws and practices
3. Maintain and manage student special education and 504 records
4. Participate in monthly PLC meetings for Special Education secretaries
5. Maintain digital and manual filing systems
6. Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
7. Assist in processing records requests for students receiving special education and 504 services
8. Assemble materials, prepare reports, and submit to the appropriate individuals in a timely manner
9. Compose and prepare correspondence
10. Telephone contact with parents and staff regarding students and with other schools and the central office
11. Perform other duties that may be reasonably requested by the building Administrators, Student Services Director and/or Superintendent of Schools
